Microsoft PowerPoint Features

Headers and Footers - When handing a printout of your presentation to an audience, you may want information such as your name or the company name on the top (header) or bottom (footer) of each page of printout. Using the header/footer feature of PowerPoint will allow you to enter the information one time and have it repeat on the other pages. You may also put footers on all of your slides in a slide show.

Slide Transitions - To make your presentation more exciting to an audience, PowerPoint allows for motion or movement effects to be added to slides (animations). Transitions are a type of animation that occurs when a presentation moves from slide to slide in a slide show and affect how the content is revealed.

Slide Backgrounds and Themes - PowerPoint contains many built-in themes, which allow you to quickly give all the slides in your presentation a uniform look, including the colors in the background of the slides, background graphics, text colors, sizes and styles. Combining formatting features under a theme name that can be quickly applied to the slide elements, saves time and gives your presentation a polished, professional look.

Chart - Enter numbers and text into a specific area of PowerPoint, and the program will generate a graphic representation of data by generating a pie, line, bar or other types of charts into the document.

SmartArt - A type of graphic/chart that allows you to turn words into a visually appealing object such as a pyramid, flow chart, list or show relationships between one or more items. Examples would include a pyramid chart, a flow chart, organizational chart or list.

Template - A pre-defined layout for a group of slides to standardize the design of the slides in a presentation. For example, if your company wants it's logo and particular colors/designs in all slides produced by employees, a sample slide template can be created, and be made available to employees so that they can use the slide as the foundation of the presentation.
